Referral Agreement is one word of many to describe a business arrangement where a person or business (referrer) introduces a client to another business. You might have also heard this referred to as an Affiliate Agreement. Or perhaps a commission agreement.
While often these arrangements are made on an informal handshake, if things aren’t written down it can get messy and that is why we, at The Remote Expert, have prepared the Referral Agreement Template for you. Time frames for payment;
How each party must manage the referrals (for example, the Business with clients referred must report to the referrer and the referrer must send a tax invoice to get paid)
How often the business must report to the referrer for sales - is this a monthly, quarterly or annual thing?
Whether the referrer has an exclusive arrangement with the business or they might refer to any number of competing businesses
how long the agreement will last - will it be ongoing or is it renewed each year for example?
confidentiality clauses; and
the legal stuff you need in all agreements - we lawyers call them “boilerplate clauses” but really they are things like how notices are sent under the contract and things like that.
